2018 Kansas Advocacy Day
Too often, we see young people getting shut out of the political process. We’re told to sit on the sidelines while conversations are had about us, and decisions are made for us.
That’s not how we do things at URGE. We know that in order to truly win on our issues, young people have to be at the forefront of the conversation.
Young people from across Kansas will be advocating in Topeka on Tuesday, February 13th, to demand that their elected officials stand up for young people and support our right to make healthy and informed choices about our own bodies.
When we are empowered with the resources and knowledge to make responsible decisions about our sexual and reproductive health, we're able to thrive in every aspect of our lives. It's time that our legislators hear that loud and clear in their office as well as in the streets.
That's why we're sending a clear message to our elected officials on Tuesday, February 13th: if you support legislation that hurts young people, we're going to hold you accountable. Will you join us in shaping the future of reproductive justice in Kansas?
URGE will help arrange carpools to and from the capitol on Monday, February 12th and will reimburse the entire cost of travel for participants as well as provide lodging the night before for those traveling long distances. The day will consist of an advocacy training, legislative briefing and meetings with your elected officials. We will also provide a light breakfast and lunch for the day!
